Outreach

Here are some pictures of when we went on outreach and there was this lady from the community that came and brought little treat bags for the kids, it was so cute to see them so excited, we could hardly keep them seated.

a new home

Good Afternoon,
hello everyone hows it? Here is a picture of one of the houses in the township that a family lived in, as you can see it's so sad. Mahyeno decided that they needed a new house desperately and donations came in and here is a picture of the new house - Wow What a difference.

Still makes me nervous

Well, today was the first time that I help lead worship in church in South Africa, I just didn't think that I would do that way over here. Even after like 3 years it doesn't get much easier, still scared still nervous. The pastor called me this morning at 8 am and asked me if I wanted to come and help them sing, church starts at 8:30 am, so not much time to think. Oh well it went ok, they just got a sound system for the church, yay microphones!
Well it's Christmas eve here and nothing is happeneing. I am thinking of all of you and how your going to church and will have a white Christmas tomorrow. Enjoy!!
Well Merry Christmas and have a wonderful time together. I miss you and the church and just being there.
Oh yeah the little boy from the hospital went home on Friday, the one holding the lego house right close to his face. I will really miss him but at least his leg is healing and he is able to be home for Christmas.

These are some more of the babies that we go and visit on Mondays and Wednesdays. I am sorry to say that the one under the pink blanket didn't survive, it couldn't breathe. Please if you remember could you pray for these precious children, some of them don't have much of a chance. Thanks

Fun Times!

Last night we went to this camp (it was for teens and young adults this week), it is the camp that I mentioned before, the one run by the 7th day adventists. You know I'm not sure that difference between between what they believe and what they believe but I am going to look on the net and see what I can find out. Anyways, we went last night, Maryse (she is a girl who works here from Holland) and Thomas (he's here from Switzerland) and two of the teen girls from here at mahyeno, their parents work with us (they are South african) and myself. So we went and kinda walked around at first not really knowing what to do, and then these people came up to us and started talking and introducing themselves. This was nice and then we ended up spending the rest of the evening with them. We had supper with everyone and it was nice, the people that we met, their names are Candice and Cameron, they are brother and sister. She has just finished high school and he is already in university going for medical. But it was fun being with them because they made us laugh the whole time that we were there. After supper we went into the church and sang one song and the speaker came and spoke for a few minutes, he is a youth pastor from Australia. After the service which was shorter because last night was their grand opening for the camp and so we went on this walk through this lighted path and there were angels standing all along the edge. As we walked there were many different plays that were going on along the way and they were of different people like drug addicts, alcoholics, prostitutes, sick, prisoners, etc. And then at the end of the trail we came out to this water and there was lights around it and a platform on the water. We were told to sit down and then the angels came walking around the water with actual torches and white robes, then the different people playing the christians led the other actors from the path and were telling them about the Lord. In the end they led them to the cross and then Jesus came out and they all went to God and received white robes. Then the angels and them sang and there were fireworks, it was all so nice. I really enjoyed last night and hopefully we will be able to go back on Sat. because they are having a candle light service, so that should be fun, as I'm missing the one at home. You know as I think about it I haven't missed one of those in a long time, I love the candle light service and I am a little sad that I won't be there. Oh well I'll go to what I can here. Beautiful Children at the hospital

These are the two boys that I go and see on Mondays and Wednesdays. These boys both had broken legs and were strapped to their beds and so they couldn't go anywhere to play. So we started to bring them things, and the other day I found some lego at a craft fair and I was so excited because I wanted to get them some, and there it was. So when I went to bring it to them man it was so nice, they were so happy. What a privilege to bring them things and to spend time with them and love them. It's so great to love them! Please if you think of it please pray for them that they would be safe, because as you can see in the pictures their casts are off, so they will be going home soon. This is happy news but I am also sad because I don't know if I'll ever see them again and I love them and looked forward to seeing them each week.



This one is my special buddy, we would play catch all the time. Thank you Lord for these beautiful children please protect them.

These are some pictures that I took from just outside my place. The building that you see in the background is the kitchen and that is where we have lunch everyday together.


This one is the garden that the food for workers work in everyday. THey work and then they get to take some of the food home to their families. It's so cool how this works.

Opening of the Boys Home

Good Morning,
If you remember a little while ago I went to the opening of a new part of the boys home and when I was there the children read out this little poem and it moved me so much and I wanted to share it with you but I forgot and so I thought well when I find it then I will send it. So here it is:
THANKS TO THE FREESTONE PROPERTIES WE NOW HAVE A HOME
Without a shelter
we had no home
without a shelter
we had no dignity
without a shelter
we had no place to call home
without a shelter
all our hopes were gone our hearts were turned to stone.
Then angels sent from God above
showed us that there is life
a meaning in our daily lives
We were once homeless but
now we have a mansion
built with love and compassion
and now with pride and dignity
we hold our heads up high
and thank the Lord above
for the shelter we now
call our home
You brought back our dignity that was once stripped from us.

Wow isn't that such a good little poem that they made up for the people who made their new home possible!
I will write again and send more pictures of my time at the hospital it was so nice and you will get to see the children that we get to love and play with. Bye for now D

God's Blessings!

I just have to tell you what happened today. Earlier in the day I was feeling kinda sad and started to think about home and missing the people that I know and that know me. I am grateful that I had a nice time with the Lord this morning just praying and worshipping Him, and I knew that He was with me. I also started to think about the verses that were given to me at youth group the one night before I left. Then at about 10:30 am we went out to do outreach and bring food to the community. We went and I brought an umbrella, it was so cute because it is so hot all the children want to be under it so they crowd around and one has to try and fit as many as you can under it. Then we went to this other part of the community where a one month old baby is and it was being fed water and juice and yogurt because they had nothing but what we were bringing to them for food. The baby was taken to the hospital and admitted and I went to go and see the baby when I was at the hospital yesterday. So when we came today to bring food to the family the grandmother was smiling and she was so happy. They had gotten some milk for the baby and the baby was home and doing better. The mother of the baby is also really sick, and she also now has medication and today when we were there she was smiling. It was so incredible to be there and to be part of that. The grandmother was so thankful and she prayed for us. I sat there and as tears came to my eyes I thought wow here we are to help them and she is praying for us at Mahyeno and thanking God for Mahyeno. What a blessing and what a privilege to be part of this ministry! God is good! Ok talk to you later. Dione

New Experiences

Good Morning,
Well I went to a restaurant called Wimpy for the first time, it was nice. I also went with a lady who took her child to a camp for the week. It was so interesting to go to a camp and see youth there as counsellors, it reminded me of home. Accept the difference was that the people that run this camp are seven day adventists. Well, today is very hot again, and it is only going to get hotter. The other day I also went to a christmas exhibition and I found some lego for the children at the hospital. I was so excited because each time I go, the children seem so bored. I am especially talking about two boys who have broken legs and can't move off of their beds and so there is absolutely nothing for them to do all day. I am going to the hopsital today to visit them and I'm not sure if I will bring the lego today or wait to bring it to them for Christmas. I love visiting the children at the hospital, it's so great to see them smile when we come. Last time I went with one of the ladies from the mission and we found some toys for the two boys and I went and bought them some suckers, they were so happy. We also found these two cloth gloves that had velcro attached and a ball and so the one boy and I played catch for a while and that was so fun to do with him because he was just smiling. Sometimes I wish I had all the money in the world and could bring them fruit and sweets and toys and colouring books and crayons everytime, but My heavenly Father has all the money and I must just ask Him! God is good.
