Sharks!

We're back from the shark place now and it was pretty cool. First we went and watched the dolphin show and after that we watched the seal show. Then we went underground and looked at all the fish and other things that are in the ocean. I have to say that I spent a great amount of time at the shark tank. They were not great whites, but they were still big and a little freaky. I would be standing by the glass looking into the tank and then from the side one would come and swim really slow by me and stare at me. Maybe he thought I looked good to eat! And it got even more freaky when they would swim head on towards me, then I started to think of the movies that I hve watched where people are doing exactly what I was doing and then the glass breaks and they get eaten. Needless to say that didn't happen, thank you so much Lord! I also found this new kind of drink, it's like our flavoured water that we have but better, uuummmm it's so good. Last night we went to a youth meeting and we sang some wonderful worship songs, songs that I actually new, it was probably the best time I've had here in South Africa yet. After it was done we stayed and they had (East) Indian food prepared, it was very good but spicy and we had COKE!!! fo the first time here in South africa.
Well that's it gotta go now and relax. Bye. D

Going to see the Sharks!!!

Well, tomorrow we have the day off and we are going to this place that is like a huge aquarium and there are sharks there and many other things. But in this place you can actually go into a cage in the shark tank!AAAAAAAHHHHHH That would be the day when I would do that, actually there would never be a day when I would do that. I'll tell you all about it after I go tomorrow, but at least it should be exciting. Other than that there is not much new. The weather is still cooler here and that makes me quite happy. I got up at 6:00am this morning, wow S. Africa is changing me already. Well, that's all see ya later. D

Hello from South Africa!

I am in Durban at the moment and will be here for 9 more days. They say it is supposed to be really hot and humid but right now the Lord is being gracious to me and it is cold, wonderful! Now about Durban, it is a beautiful city, it has beautiful beaches, different cultures where Hindus, Zulus are the most predominant. Oh by the way I have learned two Zulu words and that is all. Being in South Africa is very different, things are not the same as at home in Canada. Once it gets dark in Dundee nobody does anything, they all stay in their houses. Some have TV's but I don't and so there is nothing to do but go to sleep. Also they get up super early, one day one of the kids was at my house at 6:30 am, what is that? That is just way to early, but I am getting used to it, I got up this morning at 6:30am! When we get back to Dundee I have to start learning Zulu, aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh! I hope that the Lord will give me grace to do this, thankfully there are a lot of Zulu speakers there. We have done outreach into the poor communities, and that was so wonderful. I mean the place is not wonderful, the people live in houses made of mud and they fall apart in the rain. The children have no food and so when we come in to bring soup and bread they are all smiles. I love that part of it, when we give them food!
Also hello from my friend Keith who is from South Africa! He is done taking training here at Durban, he is from Capetown and he is Afrikaans and he is coloured and proud of it! When I first met him I thought that he was in high school that he was 18 but he is not in high school, he is only 2 years younger than me. He was sitting here by the computer so I thought that I would include someone authentic from South Africa.
Well, this is long enough for now. I miss you all and I miss Canada very much but I am sure that it will get easier in time. See ya

Leaving Canada

Well I arrived at Hamilton and now today is the day that I fly. I will fly from Toronto on British Airways at 11:45 PM. Isn't that crazy it's almost midnight and I'm busy flying accross the world when I should be sleeping. I don't know how much sleep I'll actually get because I won't get there until Wed. morning and so with allthe time differences there will not be much time to sleep. Oh well I'll catch up later. Well gotta go for supper and pack and head off to the airport. See you all and already miss you. I did get to see Rob and Amanda in Calgary, so that was so wonderful. Thank you Rob and Amanda for coming I really appreciated that. Hey I'm writing this on my new laptop wow eh?!
Well gotta go.
Love Dione

11 days till I leave Canada!!!

Wow! I can't believe that it's only 11 days until I leave my home country of Canada. And only 4 days until I leave here. The last week has been an interesting one and an emotional one. One of the best times that I had was with the youth on Wed. I was so amazed and blessed by everyone there that evening at Rob's. (and not to mention that wonderful fire that kept everyone so warm) haha I was warm at least once I got closer to the fire. The time that we spent singing was amazing, at one point I just stopped singing just so I could listen to everyone's voice and remember what it sounds like. Yeah it was then that I cried, I will really miss everyone that was there. Throughout the evening everyone gave a verse or two and I was so blown away by the verses that were chosen and at the same time so encouraged. Thank you for all the verses, I will treasure them when I get to South Africa and feel alone. I know that God is with me and that is what will get me through the lonely times. Well enough of that my eyes are starting to water so lets talk about something else.
I am getting a laptop! what! That's right you heard me, I can't believe it myself, but God is good and my faith is so weak. So we'll be able to keep in touch. Yay!
Ok that's all for now talk to you soon my dear friends.
