Good - Sad

We received a donation from overseas that we were able to give out to the people. It is such a blessing to receive these gifts of food, medical supplies and clothing. It's so wonderful to see the way the people's faces light up as they get the gifts, what a privilege to serve the Lord!
And when I saw this picture, I thought that it was sad, the children don't really have anything to play with so they play with these old cars. It just seemed so sad and broken down. I pray that the Lord would restore these people to Himself and create hope for them and joy. Please pray with me for the children, for their safety and for a humbleness that even in their circumstances they would be thankful for what they have. Thanks for taking the time to pray. Have a beautiful day. D

Mission Projects

This is Sanjay, he is one of the men that is a resident here but has been here for so long that he seems almost part of us. We were given a donation to irrigate the garden and so Sanjay is busy putting the pieces together so that that can happen. This is one of the team members, his name is Christo and he is working with one of the residents to redo this house so that we have some more accommodation. He used to live in this house but he was moved up to the main building so that he could be security for the main building.
And this is Pieter, another team member, and he is busy working on a new fence to go around the mission because we are finding that there are people coming into the mission in the night and stealing things. You see we need this fence and there has been some money provided to do this and we praise the Lord for this big help. Pieter knows how to weld and so he is busy with some of the residents putting these together and then they are painted red. This man Pieter, just went through a major operation, where half his stomach was removed because of an ulcer and a botched operation that he had had four years ago (which he almost died from). We are so thankful to the Lord for his quick recovery and amazing hand in keeping infection out of his wound, it really has been a miracle for this man. Thank you to everyone who read Lin's blog and prayed for him and his family.
I guess maybe I should explain for some who the residents are. These are men who have struggles with addictions and have come to Melusi for help. There come here and are not allowed out of the mission for the first two weeks and they must be part of the devotions and Bible sessions that we have. They also must work all day, and this helps to keep their hands busy. They really a big help to us with all the work that they do. So many full days are spent just trying to keep up with the grass around here. Please pray for these men, that the Lord's love and faithfulness would change their lives and restore them to Him and to their family's.
One more thing, please know that we are out helping the poor as well, it's not just the practical stuff that happens here but it is necessary. It is a mix between going out to the townships and doing things right here on the mission. So please keep praying for us. We deeply appreciate and need it. God bless and have a great day. Love D

Birthday!

It was the pastor's two kids' birthdays this week and so they came home to celebrate it with their family and with the mission. It was great to be all together. And I was able to take a really good family picture of the Pastor and his wife and children.

In this picture is the oldest sons girlfriend, Leanne.
Megan turned 20 and Timothy turned 23.
The team came over for about an hour just to have cake and watch the present opening, it was a nice time and we had a lot of laughs.
We have prayer every Thursday morning and after some of the men from the church get together and have breakfast at this place called Wimpy. And because they often go, they built up this credit (I'm not sure how) but anyways, they men offered us to use their credit to go out for breakfast. So all the ladies of the mission went out on Sat. for breakfast, it really was a great time. This is the pastor's wife and Lynn. I love both these ladies.

And this is Megs, and of course Linds and I. It's really a good time when the kids come home. Please pray for this family, the Pastor and Angeline are away for a couple of days, they really need a break. Please pray that the Lord would bring people who could help with leadership, as we are missing Llewellyn, the man who passed away last year. He was a big help to Peter and Angeline and now they don't have that help with taking care of the mission. Please help us to pray for men as well. The mission is so full of women, which of course is not a bad thing, but we need men to do the maintenance, fixing so many things and for security. We really need help with this and need your prayers. Please pray that the men would be godly men and mature men and men who have a passion for the Lord and the lost. Thank you so much, I appreciate that I can ask this and know that some of you will pray for this for us. You are so wonderful to stand with us in this. Have a wonderful day and God bless. D

Lions

I took Lindsay, Judy and Sophia to the Lion park last Sat. We had a great time as we arrived, they had just tranquilized a lion and the vet was there working on him. We got to take pictures with him which was incredible whenever in your life do you expect to touch a live full grown lion?!

We were quite nervous but we all survived, praise to the Lord! All in all the day was a really good one and we had a lot of fun being together.

Break!

I had the opportunity to go to the beach with the pastor and his wife and son. We went from Mon. to Thurs. and stayed at a house that is owned by one of the men in our church. It was so nice to go and get away and to be together. I really enjoy being with this family, it was so relaxing and comfortable. It all started with Timothy (their son) wanting so desperately to go to the beach and he had no one to go with so we decided to go with him. Wow as you can see in these pictures we got quite brown and some a little red! haha But all in all it was a good time. I am so grateful to the Lord for opportunities like this, little blessings in amongst everything else. Please pray for our leaders here, they are so wonderful, just that the Lord would protect them and keep them in His tender care and all there kids as well. Thanks for the prayers. Cheers D
