Happenings in South Africa

This is a picture of the building that I live in. My room is the first one here in the left hand corner, the next window is the kitchen, then the living room then Tracy's room. The rest of the windows were the boys home, but they are all empty now.

This picture was taken looking out the front of our house. The garden is tilled right now because they really need someone to come and redo it and look after it and that sure isn't me.

Well there's not much new, at the moment the parents of the teens that live here on Mahyeno, are gone to Durban to do orientation just like I did and so I am looking after their kids for the next 10 days. My first night I couldn't sleep, not because I was nervous but because the mosquitos were eating me alive!!! So I just went home at 11pm and lathered on the mosquito repellant that Tracy brought because I didn't think to bring some and then I could sleep. You see the mosquitos are different here, they don't just bite you once and then they are full and leave, no they continue to bite over and over again, I don't know maybe they are some special African mosquitos.
Oh yeah I am also taking care of the kitchen for the next 10 days while Martie is away, she is in charge of the cooking and all the donations that go out, so it's a pretty busy job, but it's good for the muscles lifting those crates.
And this weekend Tracy and I are on cooking and we are going to make North American food, like lasagna and garlic bread and vegs, and for lunch on Sat. we are going to make grilled cheese sandwhiches with tomato soup (by the way I haven't seen anyone eat tomato soup) so we'll see what happens.
Ok that's all for now, I gotta go and prepare a craft for kids club tomorrow and then go back to the house to the kids before Orange Grove comes and we have to unload. Talk to you later.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Well, it's Valentines tomorrow, it seems so different over here, the holiday things just aren't the same; and the other day I realized for the first time that they don't have thanksgiving over here. Man that's too bad! Oh well, and Valentines isn't as big either.
I hope that you all have a nice valentines, even if there is no other significant other in your life, enjoy it with friends. And to all those who do have someone that they love, I hope that girls all get flowers or chocolates or a dinner or something that shows them that they are worth some effort; and this goes both ways for the women as well. Thank the Lord for the gift that God has given you, someone to love and to be loved by, just as you are!
Ok I gotta go, have a wonderful day. D

Pictures

Here they love the umbrella because it is so hot so I bring it for them to be under.

Aren't they so cute!! This is after we gave them food.

Hello, how is everyone this morning or whenever you are reading this? I don't really have much to share I just wanted to send some more pictures. Everything is good here, Orange Grove came at 8 pm the other night, I couldn't belive it, it was pouring rain and then they came right after Tracy and I made delicious popcorn! Oh well we had fun and a good laugh and a bit of a yogurt fight, so all is well. Last night we had cell group and it was nice, we talked about Surrender and being Luke warm for the Lord and whether we are moving forward in our spiritual walk or just staying still. After we had coffee and dessert, it was just wonderful to be together and have fellowship and just relax in a home. OK that's all, talk to you later. Love Dione

Friend from the States

Good Morning,
How are you guys all doing this morning? I heard that the church went sliding on Sun., man I wish that I could have been there for that. I hope that no one got hurt and that is so nice that the church got together to have fun in the snow. I was telling some people that it hailed here yesterday and some of them were so big that they stayed on the ground and it looked a little like snow. I was so happy, for such a small thing but it made me smile and then after the Lord sent a complete rainbow. God is so good and kind to send us those things. I wanted to say thank you to everyone who prays for me and for this place I really appreciate it! I often think of home because I have picures up on my wall of friends and family, so if anyone wants to send me some pictures either by e-mail of letter, that would be so nice and then I will put them up on my wall. I am so excited that Gavin and Annette are coming to S. A and they are able to bring some little things for me. Please pray for them as they leave tomorrow well on the 8th. I'm sure they will be happy for the sun and the warmth.
Here are some new pictures and one of my new flat mate, she is the one from America, her name is Tracy and she is so great. OK talk to you later. Please know that I am well and happy that the Lord is continuing to teach me to draw closer to Him in my realtionship with Him. God Bless and keep safe. D

Thanks

Good Morning from this side of the world. I just wanted to take the time to say thank you Ed and Marylou for commenting, it was nice to hear from you it made me smile, so thanks. Hey there is a new girl here and she is from the states and she lives with me, her name is Tracy, it's really great. Just to have another person from North America here and the fact that when we talk and we understand what we are trying to say, even small things like she knows what a smore is and camp and apple cider and she brought some werthers candies!!! Yay I was so excited to see those, something from home. Sometimes it's the little things that make me so happy, like when someone sends me pictures of them I put them on my screen saver and sometimes I just sit and look at the pictures. I still miss so many people, but I am so glad to have the time that I did with everyone who is so important to me. Well I must go I have to do the veggie run, it's where we go to the grocery store and pick up the donations that they have for us that day. Ok talk to you later. Be careful and safe my friends and love the Lord with all your heart! Bye
