Answered Prayer

IT CAME!!! You may be wondering what came and why am I so excited, well it's me so that answers the one question, but the package from home came, the one that Gavin and Annette brought with them and couriered in Feb. Praise the Lord! I know that this doesn't sound like a very big deal, but when you have been away as long as I have and miss your church as much as I do and miss familiar things from home, then it is pretty exciting. When I put it in this blog to ask for you to pray with me that this package would make it, I trusted that God is good and that if it didn't come then God had a reason, but part of me still thought that it has been so long that it probably wouldn't come. And yesterday they came to me and handed me the parcel slip. When I got home with it I looked at the stuff over and over again and read the notes from Serena and the kids and the pictures that they drew and the things that they wrote and the family pictures that they sent to me. It was so wonderful to hold in my hands. I also got a note from Darlene whom I miss so much, and she sent me some wonderful treats and mousse for my hair so that was a blessing. Darren and Lynda also sent me wonderful things and a card that Lynda made and a beautiful family picture, thank you. Also Ruth sent me some goodies and some recordings of the church services, which I spent the next hour just listening to Rob do worship and Wes preach and others read scripture, etc. It was such a huge joy for me to hear that, it brought tears to my eyes and made me so happy. Thank you so much to everyone who sent something in that package, it really made my day, week. Please know that words just don't seem to cut it here, it doesn't describe what I felt when I opened that up. Thank you!!! And thank you to those who prayed with me that it would make it after so long, God is so kind. There have been other answers to prayer but I will save those for another post. Cheers. Dione

Yesterday

I told you yesterday that is snowed here and I thought that it only got to 0 degrees but it actually got to -5 i think they said. It also snowed close to here and closed the road and on the news it showed pictures of kids making snowmen. I couldn't believe it in Africa. That's pretty much it, I just wanted to tell you that, because it's so bizarre. See ya D

It SNOWED!!!

I am serious it actually snowed here, I will admit that it was barely there but it was tiny little random flakes. I couldn't believe it, and one of the guys said that there was water in a bucket outside for the birds and it was frozen this morning. AAAHHH What is this, it is Africa?! I never thought that I would be this cold in Afria. At night it is so cold here and in the morning, wow it so freezing, they said it was 2 degrees and then 0 degrees. One guy said that where his son is it got to - 6. The houses here don't have heat and so if it is cold outside it is cold inside. Imagine going into a house or a cabin that you haven't been in in a while and the heat hasn't been on in a long time, that is how it feels here in the buildings. Its crazy as it warms up there it gets seriously cold here, this morning I could see my breath. Anyways, you get the point. I hope that you have a wonderful day enjoying all that God has made for you. D

More Shark Pics!

Here are some of the pictures that I got while I was at the marine place. These are the sharks that I saw, they were fascinating, I was glued to the place. They moved so slowly and it seemed as though their eyes never left the people watching them. And this lovely black thing, I'm not actually sure what it is but it looked cool. Well that's it so have a great day. D

Tracys gone!

Well this was the last weekend before Tracy went home, so we went to the city and had fun. We stayed there for the weekend and then she flew home to the USA on Monday. It was hard to take her to the airport and see her leave. But the Lord is good and I am ok again. We did have a lot of fun while we were in Durban so that was nice.

We went to Ushaka, the marine place that they have there. This is the place that I first went to and saw all the those sharks, I will put pics on tomorrow for you to see. But we spent a few hours there walking around, we saw a dolphin show and seal show. We also walked underground through the aqaurium. After we were done that we walked around and found this little chocolate shop and so we each bought a piece of choc to try, it was lovley. Then we went to the seafood restraunt and had supper there on the veranda outside by the sea and the palm trees, it was amazing. But the best part was that I could be there with Tracy and we could just enjoy ourselves.

This was one of the turtles that we saw, they were huge!

And this fish was just weird and so I thought that I would share it with you. Well I just wrote everything about Tracy leaving and how I felt and pushed some wrong button and it all disappeared, so I will write it again. Sometimes computers are so annoying!
Ok, so Tracy flew home and I will miss her a lot, we really connected and understood each other, I guess it helped that she was from my part of the world and we had the same culture, so we laughed at the same things and when we said some things we knew what each other meant. I miss that because here I work with other cultures and that doesn't happen very much. But that's ok because all of it makes me grow, so it's all worth it. I was really surprised that when we took Tracy to the airport and were waiting in the check in line, that I was overwhelmed with the feeling of sadness because I knew that I was there and couldn't get on a plane to go to Canada, to home, to my side of the world where I understand how things work. But I am better now, life is going on and I am home again in Dundee. I took the greyhound bus back from Durban and it was neat because they served us coffee and a cookie, that was new I've only ever had that on a plane. So now there is a new girl here from the states and her name is Leslie, she is 20 and she's nice. She is only here for 5 weeks, so it will be short and sweet I am sure. It is nice to have someone in the house again with me. I came home to emptiness and for part of it, it was ok, but I didn't like being alone anymore, so who knows what God has in store maybe it's time to get married!!! haha (we'll see) That's pretty much it. I hope that you are all well and happy. Thanks so much to so many of you for all your prayers and letters and cards, and e-mails, they mean so much to me. D

WHAT!!

I just read on the online progress that the Lumber House burnt down and Thrift Mission??? What I can't believe it! It's so different to not be there and know what's happening in our little town. That place has been there for as long as I can remember. And the thrift Mission, wow, that's so sad. Well God will take care of them I'm sure. Ok gotta go, have a wonderful day. D

Good Morning

Hello Everyone at home, hows things for you? I just wanted to tell you that I still think of you and miss laughing and being with you. I am happy here but just wanted you to know that you are still in my good memories and maybe that will encourage you that you are thought of and missed. I love my friends and family and church, I am so blessed to have you all. I am doing ok here, it has been half a year! Wow eh, I couldn't believe it when I thought of that, it feels so short and yet so long at the same time. Generally I am not home sick, but there are moments when it comes and then I just go home and look at your pictures that I have in frames on my desk or on my wall. I was wondering if you could pray with me about a couple things. They aren't that important but they still matter to me. One is that a pacakge was put together from some of you at home and it was brought here by Gavin and Annette and they courier'd here to me in the middle of Feb. (I think) anyways they sent it from here in South Africa and it is now May and I still haven't received it and that makes me worried that it won't make it. I really want it to make it here because Ruth said that she put in some recordings of the church sevices and when I heard that it made me so happy that I would be able to hear familiar voices again, Wes preaching, Rob leading worship, songs that I will know. So please pray with me that is makes it even though logically it probably isn't going to come if it's been that long already, but God can do anything. And the other thing is that Tracy the girl who had been living in the falt with me, the one from America, is leaving to go home. We are going to the city for the weekend and then on Monday she will fly to the USA. I will stay in Durban at headquarters until Wed. just to have some time to be ok with her leaving and then when I get home then another girl from the US is coming here for 6 weeks and she will be living in salem with me. So please pray that I will not be too lonesome for Tracy and that all will go well with the new girl Leslie. Thank you so much for praying with me and for your support. I really appreciate you. Have a wonderful day. D
