South Africa Update

Again,
I apologize for forgetting to update this blog. First of all I went back to South Africa last year at the beginning of October. My time in Canada was great with friends and family, and I am so glad to have that chance to see people and reconnect with my church. I am very grateful for the people that I have at home in Canada, they are so wonderful.
But now I am back here in South Africa and am enjoying myself. It really is a privilege to do what I do, to feed the poor, which we can do anywhere in the world, even right outside our own doors at home. At this time in my life I get to do it in South Africa. I feel that I won’t be here forever, maybe another year or two, and then we’ll see what God has for me. I am completely trusting in Him and His leading, He hasn’t led me astray so far and never will, so my long term plans are up in the air for the moment.
Since being back it has been different for me, it feels more like a home now and I am getting to know people in town and they are recognizing me, so this has opened some doors to be able to experience new things, and most of all to meet some wonderful new people. We are still feeding the people and having them come to the mission to work for food, we also still have the kids club and visiting the hospital. So things go on as normal, as normal as they can be when your not in your own country. But I am so grateful for the Lord and how He takes care of everything and provides all my needs.
So all is good, and thank you to all who are praying, I need those prayers not just for the ministry but for me to learn and to grow to be more like Jesus. Please keep praying for the work here and for the people that they would come to know Jesus and live for Him, and that they wouldn’t be confused and mix other religions together with the Truth.
Thanks again and I will try and update again soon.

Much needed update!!

Well it’s been a really long time since I’ve been on my blog and I am sorry for that. I am used to being on this new thing called Facebook and I can keep up with people on that and so that it why I forgot about this. Sorry it took some friends and family to remind me to update your blog, so here goes.
Since I was on here a lot has happened, first of all there was a time in this last year that my mom was sick and she didn’t know really how serious it was and my younger sister was scared that it was quite serious, so after prayer and the Lord providing someone from the Netherlands to provide the money for my ticket home, I decided that it would be good for me to come back to Canada and see my mom for myself and see what was happening, I knew that I didn’t want to regret not going and wish that I had when I had the opportunity. As it happened she was quite sick and so I spent some time with her and my younger sister and her kids. There was a burden in my heart to have a talk with my mom about her life and Jesus, and we were able to have that chat and I can say that I praise the Lord for the things that He is doing in her heart. In the end I left her and my sister and went onto Meadow Lake, where I was able to see other family and friends.
When I was thinking of coming back to Meadow I didn’t actually know where I was going to stay and how I was going to get around, but God in all His goodness took care of those needs in such an amazing way. I ended up staying at Darlene Senn’s home, they were gone working and so they needed someone to stay there anyways and then I was praying for a vehicle but I really didn’t know how that was going to happen because people need their cars. But God came through again and provided a beautiful vehicle from my Darren and Lynda. I was so amazed and how God worked that out and what a privilege to drive that vehicle and have the freedom to be able to visit family and friends without having to worry about the kilometers. The one day Lynda (my sister in law) said to me don’t worry just use it, that was such a huge blessing to me and they were trying to sell the vehicle so I started praying that the Lord would sell it when it came time for me to go back to S. Africa, and He again in His faithfulness sold it for them.
So ya it was an amazing time to just be home again with all those amazing people, I was a bit worried before I came back that things wouldn’t be the same and I wouldn’t be able to connect with friends again because their lives have moved on and I wasn’t there to be part of it. But praise the Lord my friends were amazing in welcoming be back into their lives and we were able to get together.
So all in all being home was amazing and so needed. When I first came to South Africa I was so home sick and then it passed some, but never completely but being able to be home and seeing all the people and my church, it made it alright again, and easier to come back again to S.A.
Praise the Lord He paid for my ticket back to South Africa as well, through some amazing friends of mine in Alberta, wow God amazes me over and over!
And by the way my mom is staying with some family and so she is not alone so they are there to take care of her when she needs it, and I think that her health has improved some.

Good Bye Marysa

This is Marysa, she has worked here for over two years and now is in the last days before she goes back to Holland. We are going to miss her.
We took a trip to Newcastle last year to get some things and we really enjoyed it and so we thought that we would go one last time together, so we took a picture at the same tree.
We took out some of the mommas that work for the mission, ones that Marysa knows more and some of the boys who have been a help to us in the township. What a special time for a lot of them this was their first time eating at the restaurant! Wow sometimes we forget how blessed we really are.
And we took the guys out one last time to say good bye for Marysa and for us because they have set up the church here and are now moving onto to plant a church in another town. We will miss them but the Lord will go before them and it will be great! Please pray for them as they live lives set apart for the Lord.
And please pray for Marysa as she goes back to Holland that she would follow the Lord's leading in her life, and for the mission for someone who can do her work, she did a lot of work here at the mission. Have a great day and God bless. D

Fun at the Game Reserve!

This was a fun day even though we didn't get to see the elephants. But it was cool how right at the end we saw a giraffe and we got it to run, that was a sight to see. It was also so nice to be able to share it with the Kennedy's, it was so special to share that experience with them. Thanks Kennedy's for coming to share in what we do here and to have some fun together. It was such a blessing.

Kennedys in Africa

It was such a blessing to have the Kennedy family here in S. Africa with us. Thank you Kennedys for helping us and just for your kindness. I'm glad I got to be with you when you went to the game reserve. I'll miss you all.

Baptism!

This is one of the men from our church baptizing four different men...

We had the first baptism that I've been to here at our church. One of the residents was baptized and then two of the care center patients and one of the ex patients, who is better now, were baptized!!! Wow praise the Lord, it was so amazing to be a part of it. Please pray for these men as they serve the Lord and pray for their protection now that they've made that declaration out loud. Thanks and have a great day.

Random pictures

It was so exciting to receive this! One of the men from our church, his mom, went to Canada and so she brought us back some. The man and his wife have also been to Canada and so we often mention Tim Horton's coffee and how good it is. (I have this hidden in my room)

We sometimes took care of this little boy at the mission and the one day Judy brought him back to our house after he finished lunch because he was falling asleep at the table. When she laid him down he wanted Judy's doll, shame he was so cute! His name is Oscar.
A group of Rugby players from Canada came to play the high school and so we all got decked out for the game, and ended up missing the game! ha but that's ok because it was just fun to put all the stickers on and take my flag with me.
This was brought to us by Tyler Coupland when he came to South Africa. It was so nice to receive the box of goodies from people in the church and Diny of course sent us such good stuff!

Well I know that these are random but I wanted to show them to you. Hope you have a great day. Cheers D
